St. Paul Elementary will be
raising Brook trout for the 2009-2010 school year.

MAY, 2010
The Brook Trout were released on
April 29 and successfully returned to the wild. The
Little Stony Creek Chapter of TU provided activities that
included Save Our Streams (SOS) demo with the help of The
Clinch Coalition, Fly Tying, Fly Casting and lunch.

APRIL, 2010
The release is scheduled for
April 29th at Hanging Rock Recreation Area.
JANUARY, 2010
The fish are doing well and there
are no problems with the tank. Water quality is good
and cleaning is performed twice a week.
DECEMBER, 2009
All the fish survived the
Christmas storm. Power was out for a day and all is
well with the fish.
NOVEMBER 23, 2009
All the fish are swimming freely
and are starting to feed. Set up automatic feeder for
3 times daily.
NOVEMBER 18, 2009
The Marion Fish Hatchery visited
today to give a presentation on Trout Culture and answer any
question about raising trout in the classroom.


NOVEMBER 16, 2009
WCYB-TV 5 visited today to
feature St. Paul in a news story on Trout In the Classroom.
All of the eggs have hatched and most of the trout have
found their way to the bottom of the tank. We have
found a two headed trout.


NOVEMBER 2, 2009
Most of the eggs have hatched and
the Alevins are moving around the egg basket. Some
have made their way to the bottom of the tank. Also
received tank tops.


OCTOBER 26, 2009
We have a lot of eggs hatching
and moving around. Some eggs have turned white and
died off which we remove every day. Biozyme was added
to tank for the first time.


OCTOBER 19, 2009
Mrs. Gross' class received their
eggs from the Marion Hatchery on October 19. They
received 532 eggs and will be monitoring the egg count until
they hatch.
