Thomas Walker High School will be
raising Brook trout for the 2010-2011 school year.
Brown Trout were originally
planned this year
because the rough winter and summer of the previous year
cause a delay in the spawning of the brook trout.
Therefore, eggs where not available when the program kicked
off. However due to some bad luck the brown trout did
not survive and the Marion Hatchery provided a replacement
supply of brook trout.
The trout were released on May 12th and successfully returned to the wild in
Hardy Creek. Again we had a release that was a little different
than previous releases. Only 9 students participated
in the release and activities.
